This was designed around some supplies that I already had and parts that I could 3d print

The music Barrel was designed flat by breaking up a rectangle into equally spaced columns and rows for each beat and each note. There are 18 notes and this is the layout for the song castle in the sky by Joe Hisaishi. It is meant to be cut from a Mylar sheet with a cricut machine

This shows the screw spinning and a ball moving up it. I made this motion capture to test the spacing of the screw to the channel until I got it right.

The chimes were designed with the help of a chime expert online. In theory these will all play the correct notes, but until they are tested in real life this is unknown.

Above are some of the individual parts. Anything made of wood is meant to be cnc cut and the colorful parts would be 3d printed in abs plastic.
